Hunting dog training is easy if you know what makes a dog tick. How the dog views you will decide if you can train him successfully. For gun dog training it is essential the dog views you as the ALPHA early in his life. With Homer, I established myself as the ALPHA within a week of getting him. I used the DOG TRAINING MASTERS course to start Homers “ Basic Training”. This course taught me what makes Homer tick and how to quickly become the ALPHA. By the time Homer was 16 weeks old SIT, STAY and HERE, .were firmly established. He obeyed SIT and HERE with both whistle and voice commands.
At this stage in his gun dog training the SIT and STAY commands were kind of blended together. Homer learned SIT means STAY as well. Homer was now ready for the more advanced hunting dog training outlined in the Water Dog and Game Dog DVD’s. I strongly recommend the DOG TRAINING MASTERS course as a foundation to your gun dog training.
